Rubus parviflorus
This native berry is common in the western mountains of the United States but only found natively in the Great Lakes region in Minnesota. Shade tolerant, they have large sometimes dinner-plate sized maple-looking leaves. The flowers are showier than a raspberry, but not prolific enough to be used ornamentally for flowers. The large leaves, however, do create a statement. Each plant produces a handful of raspberry-like berries. They are more delicate than a raspberry and a little larger. Their flavor is both similar and different than a raspberry's flavor, very tasty!
